Awards of excellence for IHG members

by | Dec 6, 2021

Independent Hardware Group (IHG) has celebrated the achievements and success of its vast network of independent retailers at its annual state award ceremonies.

The 2021 state awards were broadcast online in a series of livestreams to members, recognising retail and service excellence under the four brands of Mitre 10, Home Hardware, Thrifty-Link Hardware and True Value Hardware.

IHG’s General Manager Sales and Operations Chris Tsotra said, “We send our sincerest congratulations to all nominees and winners for setting the bar so high in a year where everyone was challenged on many fronts, both personally and professionally. Without a doubt, you have truly gone over-and-above in your dedication to service your local community and be the Best Store in Town and are truly deserving of these accolades.”

“We are fortunate to have such strong leadership and innovation within our network. These businesses have stood the test of time for generations and are worthy winners for the 2021 calendar year. Awards like these are important to celebrate the unique benefits that family-owned businesses provide to local communities. The IHG awards nights are something to behold where passion, emotion and family pride quite rightly take centre stage. A true celebration of Successful Independents.”

“While the pandemic forced us to change our grand plans for these award ceremonies, our state teams took it in their stride and pulled together some highly entertaining virtual events with a great balance of fun and formality. A wonderful celebration of our members, our Family Village Tribe culture and the great landmarks across Australia,” Mr Tsotra said.

The IHG Store of the Year Awards are a year-round process, with stores judged by the state operations team, who then nominate stores who perform well in their respective Village network for the State Awards. In 2021 there are eight award categories up for grabs, each judged on a range of criteria including standards, service, innovation and community support.

State winners go on to represent their region in the IHG National Awards to be announced at the IHG Expo in February 2022.
