Bunnings Warehouse plans to move its Salvado Road store to Jolimont in a $28 million endeavour to build a larger showroom complete with a full cafe, playground and vast nursery, according to a recent PerthNow report.
The move will see the Bunnings store provide a “much wider range of home and lifestyle products, along with a larger nursery, and a full cafe and playground”, a spokesperson said.
Bunnings Properties Pty Ltd lodged its original plans in August 2020, before submitting amended plans to the City of Subiaco on June 11.
Spanning four storeys, with parking planned for the basement, as well as a bulky goods showroom proposed for the first floor and ground floor, the new store will also have two commercial tenancies yet to be determined.
Bunnings Regional Operations Manager, Hayley Coulson, said Bunnings had made changes to the store’s design to “better fit” with local surrounds and improve the streetscape.
Just some of the major changes include the addition of a customer vehicle entry and exit point on Hay Street and taking away the Tighe Street entry point, while the rear building facade is proposed to be heavily landscaped with greenery.
“These changes were made based on feedback received through consultation and include the use of various building materials such as brick, steel framing and glazing along with additional landscaping design features,” Ms Coulson said in the report.
Subiaco councillors will vote on the plans at a council meeting next week.
