Haymes Paint has welcomed an exciting new chapter to its rich history after opening its new, state-of-the-art flagship store in Ballarat, Victoria.

The store, which according to Haymes is unlike any other paint shop in Australia, officially opened its doors in April and is set to change the way Australians think about and buy paint.

With a bold and modern design, Haymes Paint Shop Ballarat features an interactive 500 square metre showroom that is aimed at inspiring customers to tackle any project.

Haymes Paint has opened a new purpose-built store that is the first of its kind in Australia.

Haymes Paint Chief Executive Officer, Rod Walton said the opening of the new store is a huge milestone for the business and the Haymes team, “could not be more excited to open the doors to the public”.

“We were driven by a desire to create something unique that has never been done before. We wanted to be bold, brave and make a statement. We are so proud of the end result and thrilled to be leading the charge in innovating the customer experience in the paint industry – both in Australia and globally,” Mr Walton said.

The flagship store, nestled in the busy central business district of Ballarat (Victoria), is separated into two sections – one for retail customers and the other for professional tradespeople.

The retail component boasts a range of modern and fully-interactive features. From creating its own mood boards with a range of tactile samples to rolling DIY tips housed on interactive ‘Show Me’ displays, customers can see, touch and feel all of Haymes Paint’s products to determine exactly what they need for their project.

Customers can also attend free, in-store express colour sessions with the Haymes Paint team.

Tradespeople will also benefit from a separate, purpose-built trade centre designed specifically to cater for rapid and tailored site solutions, whether it be for paint, render or other professional coatings.

“We want our customers to be completely immersed by the in-store experience – whether they be trade professionals, interior designers, architects or everyday DIY go-getters,” Mr Walton said.

“The showroom floor is designed so that customers can closely inspect our products, get a sense of how they feel and see exactly how they match with other materials and colours. A lot of thought and consideration has gone into the store, and we are confident our customers will feel that from the moment they walk in.”

“Sometimes in business you need to try new things and take risks and at the end of the day, if it creates a special customer experience, then it is all worth it.”

Haymes Paint was born and bred in Ballarat, founded by Henry Haymes in 1935 with a single shopfront. According to Haymes, the new flagship store preserves that rich history while welcoming an exciting new chapter for the business that is in its third generation of family ownership.

Haymes Paint Commercial Director, Tim Haymes said Ballarat is, and will always be at the core of the business.

“This project was undertaken with the support of local architects, builders, painters and trade professionals so it is a site that truly embraces the Ballarat community from top to bottom.”

“At the end of the day, Haymes Paint Shop Ballarat is all about offering something completely new in the paint and surface coating industry while bringing life to the customer experience. We believe we have achieved that and could not be prouder,” Mr Haymes said.
