Three entrepreneurial mates have opened Kirrawee’s, first Haymes Paint Shop after bonding over a pie and beer in the stands at Shark Park in New South Wales.

Chris Sands, Nathan Lowe and Adrian van de Lustgraaf decided to make a splash in the paint world after cheering on the Cronulla Sharks rugby team together for more than a decade.

The trio, who bring a combined 40 to 50 years of business experience to their new venture, recently opening the store at 20a Flora St, Kirrawee.

The mates all have different business backgrounds. Chris is in marketing, Nathan is in sales team management and Adrian is a small business owner, but they are united in their desire to expand Haymes Paint’s footprint in the Sutherland Shire community.

“The Sutherland Shire is very family focused and there’s a synergy there with Haymes Paint, a family owned and run company,” said Chris.

Nathan said that the fact that Haymes Paint is also an Australian-made and owned paint brand means a lot to the trio and their community.

“It means you can count on the quality and know you are supporting locals when you purchase the product,” Nathan said.

The franchise’s early connection to sport has been enhanced with Haymes Paint Shop Kirrawee taking a Cronulla Sharks Player Sponsorship and a Gold Sponsorship at the Cronulla Golf Club.

While it is the first Haymes Paint Shop in Kirrawee and the Sutherland Shire, Haymes Paint already has a committed customer base in the region, having been available through independent paint specialist Crockers Paint & Wallpaper for more than 40 years.

Haymes Paint Shops General Manager David McCormack said, “opening of Haymes Paint Shop Kirrawee makes it even easier for our loyal customers to get the paint they need and back to work as quickly as possible because we know that time is money, especially for trade painters.”

To celebrate the opening of Haymes Paint Shop Kirrawee, the franchise is hosting a special Trade Day on July 4, with a free barbecue and coffee, giveaways, expert advice from on-hand suppliers and deals including a $30 accessory voucher with every purchase of 30-litres of paint. The day will also feature bulk deals on iQuip tape, Haymes Paint brushes and Soudal Gap Filler.
