The Hardware Shop moves to bigger Home
The move is key to accommodating the store’s massive trade customer base, which accounts for 75% of the store’s overall business. The new store in nearby River Street, Richmond, will have a ‘drive-thru’ facility, enabling a steady flow of traffic throughout the trade area and the store. “At 2,500 sqm, the new store will be almost twice the size of the existing one – a store befitting its flagship tag,” said co-owner Michael Youlden. “With the increase in store size comes a significant increase in product range and depth of stock, which we anticipate will lead to a 25% increase in sales and foot traffic.” However, not all the changes are about accommodating the increasing number of customers – The Hardware Shop will also go hi-tech.
The store will be one of the first in Australia to have electronic price labels, meaning price updates will be electronically transmitted to each individual LCD product label immediately, freeing up staff to focus on customer service rather than keeping shelf edge tickets maintained. The store will also feature state-of-the-art merchandising techniques using product layout planograms, developed by Danks to ensure sales are maximised and the very best shelf placing for all product lines. The all-new Hardware Shop in River Street will open in early November.
