Another Award for Ibbott’s

Ibbott’s Home Timber & Hardware (TAS) recently won consecutive Northwest Commerce & Industry Awards for Retail Business, adding to the swag of honours they have achieved since 2003. Backed by the Devonport Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the awards are the premier recognition of business excellence in Tasmania’s northwest.

“The award is recognition that we are running a best practice business, which is something every business strives for,” said General Manager, Robert Brown. “Other than best business practise, we feel it’s equally important to be involved in the broader community, and this is evident in our sponsorship of local sports clubs, fundraising and other local events.” Rob also attributes a lot of his store’s success to Danks, which offers a vast array of retail support services for all of its members, electronic commerce services, group pricing and its patented in-store computer system – Danks Advanced Retail Technology (DART).

The award is based on seven criteria, including innovation, technology, risk management adaptability, safety, staff development, marketing and customer service. Ibbott’s was able to demonstrate excellence across all seven criteria, including the introduction of Australian Workplace Agreements, the upgrade of accounting and operational software, KPIs with like companies, formal and documented OH & S policy, nationally accredited staff training, the Home Team loyalty program and retail training courses. This award caps a remarkable three years for Ibbott’s, which has seen the store win the Home Timber & Hardware Store of the Year award in 2003, 2005 and 2006, the Devonport Awards for Excellence (Large Business) in 2005 and the inaugural Northwest Commerce and Industry Awards (Retail Business) in 2005.
