The Merchandise Expo

Mitre 10’s Merchandise Expo was also held for the first time on the same occasion. Attracting more than 775 Mitre 10 suppliers and members from across Australia, the Expo featured an increased number of new-to-market products which will appear in Mitre 10 stores across the country later this year. This included Mitre 10’s new outdoor furniture range, exciting innovations to the private label product ranges, as well as an exclusive new tool-less indoor furniture range which has already won awards in the US. Set to be released for Fathers Day (September), Mitre 10’s new outdoor living range has encapsulated the latest new-to-market trends and is complementary to Mitre 10’s sustainable environmental policies. The expo also devoted a significant amount of space to showcase initiatives by private label product ranges, including a new ICON power tool offering, unique water-saving initiatives, and further developments with Gard&Grow in the garden care sector. The Garden Gurus adding to the excitement of the merchandise expo and made their presence known by liaising with suppliers and members, getting a thorough insight into upcoming trends and products. “It was great to integrate the Garden Gurus into the expo as their own horticultural backgrounds meant they were keen to find out more about many of the gardening-related products on show,” said John Florey. “The Gurus spent a lot of time talking with suppliers and comparing notes on some of their own products. Their knowledge of the industry is really impressive, but equally is their personable approach with consumers, members and suppliers,” he said. “They’re great characters who are enthusiastic about everything gardening. It’s great to have them on board with Mitre 10 and involved in activities like the expo.” Mitre 10 members were also given a personalised Garden Gurus tour of MIFGS, with special emphasis on the Mitre 10 Sustainable Living Garden. Overall, more than 114 supplier stands presented at the Mitre 10 Merchandise Expo.
