Bunnings’ Next Generation Warehouse

Hawthorn Football Club legends Robert Di Pierdomenico and Dermott Brereton joined local residents as well as Bunnings staff and senior management to celebrate the opening of Bunnings Warehouse Hawthorn on December 11.

Employing more than 140 staff, the new facility is the first of its kind for Bunnings owing to a unique double storey design that also counts a 299 space underground car park. The complex occupies a total of 7,462 square metres (not counting the car park) and incorporates some of the latest warehouse design features, like ample natural light and one of the largest bathroom and kitchen displays in any Bunnings facility.

Several team members worked with local community groups in the lead up to the opening, contributing $4,000 to projects for Blind Sports Victoria and the Collingwood Children’s Farm. “Bunnings is always looking for opportunities to contribute to local causes and we look forward to providing assistance to more community groups in the local area through our famous sausage sizzles and other activities,” said Complex Manager Rob Tucker.

A week earlier Carlton hero Anthony Koutoufides was also on hand for the opening of another Victorian warehouse, this time the 11,316 square metre Bunnings Warehouse Coburg on December 4. The facility has created jobs for 100 people and has enough parking for over 700 cars. The opening featured a fireworks display on December 5 as well as festivities throughout the weekend that included extensive children’s entertainment and a range of free home and garden improvement DIY workshops presented by suppliers and team members. Complex Manager Tom Morros also said that Bunnings has been working hard on projects for local community groups to celebrate the official opening, including work on several local schools.
