Congratulations Sutton Tools!

The Health and Safety Committee of Thomastown-based company, Sutton Tools, was a finalist in the prestigious WorkSafe Victoria Awards 2009. The Awards recognise individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution to improving health and safety in their workplace. Sutton Tools’ Health and Safety Committee was one of five finalists in the category Health and Safety Committee of the Year. The section acknowledges a Health and Safety Committee that has demonstrated a high level of commitment, represents all interests in the workplace and is highly consultative. The WorkSafe Victoria Awards are a highlight of Work Safe Week, which ran from 26 to 30 October. More than 100 free seminars and events were held across Melbourne and regional Victoria to highlight the importance of workplace health and safety. WorkSafe’s executive director of Health and Safety, John Merritt said Sutton Tools Health and Safety Committee was selected from 118 applications received from across the state. “The achievements of the Awards finalists, who have used their ideas, innovations and initiative to make Victorian workers safer, are outstanding. Everyone who has been nominated for an Award should be extremely proud. “Each has shown their commitment to achieving better health and safety outcomes. Whether it’s across industries or for a specific industry or workplace, it’s something to celebrate.”
