New Mitre 10 Stores
Inglewood is a concept store comprising a Mitre 10 hardware store and an IGA supermarket with IGA liquor. Store owner, Peter Moore says joining Mitre 10 is the first step in securing a long and independent future for his business. “I have been proudly independent for over 25 years and want to stay that way. As the only true independent hardware retailer in Australia, I see a strong future with Mitre 10,” he said. “Given my experience with the Metcash group through my IGA grocery business, I had no hesitation in joining Mitre 10 as I saw it as a good strategic move for my business and the local community will be excited by the change.”
The Hastings Co-op is a multi-format business offering a range of products and services for regional communities including IGA supermarkets, farm supplies, a department store, fuel stations and a dairy factory. Impressed with its past experience with Metcash through its IGA grocery business, the Wauchope cooperative decided to partner with Mitre 10 over others when it recently relocated to 1 Carrington Street (Oxley Highway). Philip Bryant, CEO Hastings Co-op, says the decision to choose Mitre 10 over others was relatively simple. “Mitre 10 was stronger on all commercial aspects, and as we have recently experienced, all services as well. We know the importance of dealing with the only truly independent hardware wholesaler in the hardware game. We enjoy a great relationship with Metcash and Mitre 10 is the only logical choice for independents into the future.” Regional Australia is Mitre 10’s heartland, where dual-format stores service the needs of regional communities well. With the backing of Metcash, Mitre 10’s expansion strategy into regional Australia is likely to include additional dual-format stores.
