Movement at Mitre 10
Mitre 10 has announced two new senior appointments. Bernie Bicknell has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Mitre 10 Australia Ltd. Bernie, who has been acting CEO since Frank Whitford’s departure, commenced with Mitre 10 in 2000 as CFO. According to Mitre 10 Chairman, Jim Eaton, the board believes that Bernie has an excellent understanding of the group and its immediate operational priorities. “Bernie is best placed at this time to deliver the required service improvement, improved efficiency, along with the critical focus to address the structure of the company to ensure continued growth and market strength,” said Jim Eaton. Mitre 10’s Group General Manager of Marketing, Ian Tyson, has been appointed to the expanded role of Group General Manager – Merchandise and Marketing. This new role integrates the previously separate merchandise and marketing functions within the group.

Ian’s appointment effectively merges Mitre 10’s Merchandise and Marketing Departments into a single team and reflects Mitre 10’s focus on the four pillars of doing business: Delivering In Full On Time, Sales, Inventory Management and Ease of Doing Business with Customers. Bernie Bicknell congratulated Ian on his appointment, saying the merchandising and marketing functions were vital to the business’ continued growth and success. “We have some major initiatives planned for the new financial year and under Ian’s stewardship, I am confident that our merchandising and marketing functions will continue to deliver strong results for the Mitre 10 brand.”
Ian has worked as Mitre 10’s General Manager Marketing for the past five years. He is well known in the hardware industry and has extensive experience both in merchandise and marketing roles.
