News: A Future Leader
Cameron Willey of Wallington Mitre 10 Home and Trade in Drysdale, (Vic), was recently awarded with the Uncle Bob’s Club, 2005 Jenny Ruff Memorial Youth Achievement Award.
Cameron accepts his award from the Uncle Bob’s Club
Uncle Bob’s Club is an honorary fundraising organisation that raises funds to support Victoria’s Royal Children’s Hospital as well as aid sick and disabled children across Victoria. Cameron was awarded with the youth accolade in recognition of his significant contribution to the community. He leads many of the club’s fund-raising efforts, and plays an integral role in the day to day functioning of the club. “Cameron is very humbled by the award as he views his contribution as a reward in itself,” said Wallington Mitre 10 Home and Trade co-worker, Will Van Berkel.
Cameron, a member of Uncle Bob’s club since birth, displays strong organisational and leadership skills that enable him to play a central role in instigating many of the club’s fundraising activities including sausage sizzles, shopping tours and working bees.
Following tireless fundraising efforts in 2005, Uncle Bob’s Club presented the Royal Children’s Hospital with a cheque for $345,250 at this year’s Good Friday Appeal.
“Without people like Cameron, many charities would cease to exist. I’m thankful to have him as part of our fantastic team,” said Will.
