Mitre 10 Redundancies

The following press release was issued by Mitre 10 Australia on April 22: Mitre 10 Australia Ltd announced a restructure of its business yesterday. Around 40 positions have been made redundant across the company, with effective dates occurring throughout the year. 34 employees have left Mitre 10 during the normal course of business, since January 2009.

Mitre 10 has sought to mitigate the number of the redundancies by identifying opportunities for redeployment or offering variations to work practices.

The move has been endorsed by the Mitre 10 board, and will support changes recommended in a detailed review of the business that was recently undertaken. The restructure is the first step in Mitre 10’s transformation program, designed to stabilise, reinvigorate and grow the business.

With Mitre 10 celebrating its golden anniversary this year, Chief Executive Officer Mark Burrowes said, “Mitre 10 has been a strong and vibrant part of the hardware community for fifty years. I’m confident that restructuring the organisation and creating a more streamlined ‘customer-centric’ team will enable us to provide quality products and services that consistently deliver superior value to our members and customers.”

“Sustaining our financial health is essential to maintaining the Levels of Service commitment we have made to the Mitre 10 membership,” Mr. Burrowes said.

“We understand that change isn’t easy and will be providing outplacement support for all employees affected.”
