Mark Burrowes Returns at Danks

Mark Burrowes, the former Mitre 10 CEO, is Danks’ new boss. Burrowes has taken on the role of General Manager – Home, Timber and Hardware Group and will report directly to Masters CEO Don Stallings. Burrowes will also join the Woolworths Executive Leadership Team.

The move has come as a result of Danks’ General Manager and hardware industry stalwart, Graeme Danks, announcing his retirement. Danks will continue to work within the home improvement business at Woolworths in a part-time capacity as he transitions into retirement.

Con Dekazos will become General Manager – Wholesale, reporting to Mark Burrowes and with responsibility for the day to day wholesale operations, buying, marketing, finance, supply chain and franchisee operations.

Commenting on the top end restructure, Don Stallings praised Danks’ contribution to the hardware industry over 40 years. “With more than 150 years of history, the Danks’ family has left an amazing legacy to this industry and we look forward to continuing their hard work on behalf of all our wholesale customers. Mark’s experience makes him a very worthy successor to Graeme and the Danks customers can be reassured that they will be in excellent hands.”

The personnel reshuffle led an Australian Financial Review report to speculate on whether Woolworths may see a shake-up at Danks, with other management changes suggesting Burrowes taking more of a strategy role at the group.
